I would describe this as a very handy book for those who are starting out on their own because it really does begin at the beginning How to shop for your food, how to interpret the labels, how to choose healthier stuff plus a few tips on item descriptions such as the difference between jam and jelly.
The author goes on to give hints on how to choose the best fruits and vegetables, plus a handy guide to choosing your meat.

Great book. Informative and very funny
This is a great book written by a chef who has a great sense of humor. I found myself laughing and chuckling as I read it which helps to retain the great tips. The topics written in the corner help to find a topic again when you are looking for it to assist in a recipe or general kitchen experience. Each secret has many facts... so this is definitely worth the purchase and a great read that will put you in a good mood, in your kitchen, ready to cook!
